The Wonder Stuff live in Boscombe to play ‘The Eight Legged Groove Machine’ and ‘Hup’ in their entirety, plus some new songs. This prompts a look back to 1988 when I first saw them in Coventry.

Season’s Greetings from Wembley
A festive party of 80s artists at Wembley Arena to serve as the Grey Haired Gig Goer’s Chrismas party. Bit different to a normal gig – more of a festive juke box and great night in the bar.
So here it is Merry Xmas…again…with Slade
Legendary 70s rock come glam rock band Slade will be immortalised in their timeless Christmas hit. What better timing than to catch up with them live in Salisbury in December. No Noddy Holder playing with them these days but Dave Hill leads the nostalgic stomp.
Old Skulls on Display at Pyramids
Band of Skulls play an end of tour gig at Portsmouth Pyramids Centre, showcasing their first album from 2009, ‘Baby Darling Doll Face Honey’. My photos from 2017 Victorious Festival, on almost the same site, are included.
Paying Tribute to the Playing Tributes
Tribute bands: great musicians, crowd pleasing sets, good value, no wigs required so what’s not to like. Wish We Were Pink Floyd in Chichester provide an excuse to mull over the tribute thing.
Post Post-Punk’s Not Dead: Crows
Having released their long awaited debut album ‘Silver Tongues’ earlier in 2019, and supported Idles on tour, tonight Crows play the Anvil, Bournmouth. Live music that the John Peel generation can still get excited about is not dead yet .
Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Park … and the Pavilion
Some snapshots of Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark playing live over a 34 year period….well I saw them once at the start of that 34 year period with no camera or phone and at their Bournemouth gig this week, where I took some photos – snapshots indeed.
Squeeze, a songbook for life
The current Squeeze tour is showcasing the Difford and Tilbrook songbook spanning 40 years. Tonight’s show in Bournemouth, with special guests Heaven 17, made me think about my 40 years of Squeeze.
THE Sound of the Suburbs: The Members
The Members, the sound of the suburbs, on stage tonight in Plymouth, well Mutley Plain to be more precise.
My Vitriol on Islington High Street
This illustrates that gig night is not always all about the music. A lovely old venue with a bit of history, like the Islington Assembly Hall, in an area of diverse eateries, pubs and bars makes it all more of an adventure….but hey, it’s not every week you get the chance to see the elusive ‘My Vitriol’.
